Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade In a distinct essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s. "Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
