Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
